A cozy space for all things food, faith & travel.
My heart for this space is to share a little of what I’ve learned on my life’s journey in hopes of helping to make your journey a little easier.
So, why "Hearth + Sole"?
As far back as history is recorded, the hearth and the food prepared there has always been central to the home. It seems that today’s society has lost the importance of what the hearth represents in our homes, and I want to change that. For some context, Webster’s dictionary meaning of the word hearth is “HOME”. The Cambridge dictionary says “a home, especially when seen as a place of comfort and love.” Wikipedia says, “A hearth is the place in a home where a fire is or was traditionally kept for home heating and for cooking. For millennia, the hearth was such an integral part of a home, usually its central and most important feature. Before the industrial era, a common design was to place a hearth in the middle of the room as an open hearth.” So the hearth was the main attraction of the home; a place of warmth, nourishment and togetherness—all things that warm the cockles of my heart. It is my desire to bring joy and comfort back to the heart of the home by sharing recipes, ideas and techniques, and better ways to nourish our bodies as we nourish our spirits.
“Sole” is represented in where the soles of our feet touch the ground as we travel around this beautiful world God created. As a young girl, I had no idea that I would develop such a deep love for travel. But once I got a small taste of the beauty the Lord has placed around us, I developed a desire to see more and more of it. When we first started doing a little traveling, we didn’t know much and it seemed like everyone I asked for advice was only interested in sharing basic tips I could’ve found online with a little effort. My heart for this space is to help new travelers by giving more insight into the finer details of travel by sharing some of our experiences. From road trip must-do’s, to our favorite places to travel by air, our favorite snacks, fuel stops, best & worst food establishments and most importantly…coffee stops!
I hope you’ll join us as we take on this new adventure and share a piece of our hearth and sole with you along the way!
All my love,
Angie
